Why Compress Images?
Large image files slow down websites, eat up storage, and make sharing difficult. Compression reduces file size while preserving the visual quality your audience expects.
Our tool uses your browser's built-in Canvas API for compression — JPEG and WebP files are re-encoded at your chosen quality level, while PNG files remain lossless. At 70-80% quality, most photos are visually identical to the original at a fraction of the size.
Everything runs locally. No files are uploaded, no accounts are needed, and your images remain completely private. Perfect for photographers, designers, bloggers, and anyone who works with images.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are my images uploaded to any server?
No. All compression happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images are never uploaded or stored anywhere — they stay on your device.
Which image formats are supported?
JPEG, PNG, and WebP files are supported. JPEG and WebP use lossy compression controlled by the quality slider. PNG compression is lossless — the slider has no effect on PNG files.
Will my photos lose quality?
JPEG and WebP use lossy compression — lower quality settings produce smaller files with some visual loss. At 70-80% quality, most images look nearly identical to the original. PNG files are always lossless.
Can I compress multiple images at once?
Yes. You can drop up to 50 images at once. Each image is compressed individually, and you can download them one by one or all together as a ZIP file.
Is there a file size limit?
No hard limit. Since compression runs in your browser, the practical limit depends on your device's available memory. Most images up to 50 MB compress without issues.
Does compression change the image dimensions?
No. Compression only reduces file size — the width and height of your image remain exactly the same. To resize images, use our Image Resizer tool.
